I was born in Mexico and my parents emigrated to the United States in my teen years. With a great grandfather from China and a great grandmother from Spain. I’m the mix of two cultures plus a multicultural melting pot in America.
Since I was a little girl, I was surrounded by people who are passionate about making things with their hands. My dad is a talented furniture maker. My mom is a gifted seamstress. Perhaps they were why I was destined to follow my passion for design. Throughout the years I have continued to feed my curiosity through art, nature and the people who surround me. I have lived in so many places and my greatest joy about moving has been seeing the way my art and design has been nurtured through all the places I lived in. Serendipity has been my number one friend that has brought me to meet some of the most amazing friends and artist that have influenced my work. And, for that, I’m so grateful!
I’ve never believed in making art just for the sake of art. My goal is not to simply come out with a product. I believe in the process just as much as I believe in the outcome. But I truly appreciate the countless genuine experiences I have benefited from while trusting in the process of creating something with my own hands.
Today I seek to curate priceless experiences, interactions, and dialogue that organically/naturally happen while we gather to make art together. Art has continually given me a renewed gratitude, a fresh perspective, and the joy that comes from making something with my own hands.
I call art a
serendipitous curiosity .
(una curiosiosa serendipia del destino).
